INTERNATIONALISATION
The Ceur Foundation and China
Inaugurated in October, 2005, the College of China in Bologna is the first structure for accommodation and education totally devoted to Chinese university students in Italy.
During its second year of life the College of China becomes a vital element in the relationship between Italy and the Asian Giant. Over 130 Chinese students at the University of Bologna involved in the project launched by CEUR, the University of Bologna and the Council for Industrial and Manufacturing Activities of the Region Emilia Romagna together with Confindustria, the Conference of the Deans of Italian Universities (Crui), the University and Scientific Research Ministry (Miur), Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Students coming from China attend 1st- and 2nd- degree courses in many Italian Universities. The CEUR foundation took part in this programme first and foremost to create a reception network for these students based on high-level accommodation structures. Secondly, CEUR gave its support to Italian Universities interested in the Chinese world, promoting Italian academic programmes in China.
All these aspects are strictly intertwined to the need of Italian companies operating in China to invest in human capital. Through the Service Centre of the Region Emilia Romagna – the Chinese seat of the Association College of China – for instance, Italian students can, on their request, have the opportunity to make pre-graduation apprenticeships and post-graduate vocational training in any of the 30 and more Italian companies from Emilia-Romagna operating in China.
